Phendimetrazine, also called Phendimetrazine tartrate, is a generic prescription weight loss pill that is sold on its own or under a number of brand names such as Bontril. As a prescription drug, it is available only with the permission of a licensed doctor. It is formulated in order to assist individuals who are obese and are at risk of certain health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol. As such, it is not simply a diet pill for people who want to lose a few pounds to look better in a bathing suit or wedding gown. It is a serious dieting tool to help its users to develop healthy lifestyle habits such as proper eating and daily exercise, so that they can continue losing weight on their own after the short-term use of the drug is complete, and so that the goal weight can be maintained once it has been achieved.
To accomplish this, the sympathomimetic amine that is Phendimetrazine works similarly to an amphetamine. It is in a group of drugs known as anoretics or anorexigenics, which means that it provides central nervous system stimulation. This stimulation results in an increase in the heart rate and blood pressure. The reason that this is beneficial is that when it happens, the appetite drops.
How should Phendimetrazine be taken?
If your doctor has prescribed Phendimetrazine, make sure that you discuss its use so that you know that you will be taking it properly. Following the doctor’s directions to the letter ensures that you will be taking it safely, and that you will achieve the best possible results. If you have any questions about how you should be taking Phendimetrazine, then you should call your doctor or pharmacist and have them explain it to you.
In most circumstances, Phendimetrazine is swallowed whole with a full glass of water. This medication is available in two forms, the sustained-release formula (which should be taken one time every day) and the immediate-release formula (which is usually taken two or three times every day). These pills should each be taken on an empty stomach, before eating a meal.
No matter the form, Phendimetrazine should not be taken too close to bedtime, as the result could be insomnia. Instead, avoid taking this medication within four hours of going to bed, to prevent this side effect from occurring.
The sustained-release form of this medication should never be opened, crushed, or chewed. Instead, it must be swallowed whole so that it enters the blood stream with the correct timing and does not risk overdose.
What else should you know about Phendimetrazine?
Phendimetrazine is a strong medication. It can be very helpful for weight loss, but it can also have certain risks associated with its use. Make sure that you understand the way that you react to the use of Phendimetrazine before taking part in any potentially hazardous activities such as driving, operating machinery, or doing anything else that requires you to be alert. Among the more common side effects of this drug are blurred vision, restlessness, and dizziness. You may be extremely tired and not know it because the symptoms are covered by this medicine.
You should also be aware of the risk of addiction to Phendimetrazine, and should discuss the length of time that you should use it and how it should be gradually decreased before you cease its use altogether. This is because stopping suddenly can cause serious withdrawal symptoms, even if you have only been using this medicine for a few weeks.

Though most people will be able to successfully take Phendimetrazine, there are some conditions that can make this pill inappropriate. If you have the following, you will not be able to safely take Phendimetrazine:

- Arteriosclerosis (where the arteries are hardened)

Phendimetrazine didn’t work as well as Phentermine. I found Phentermine to be a lot stronger. I was still able to shed 10 pounds on it in one month though.
